DART RideShare Program Gets Grant for Incentives for Clean Commuters

Wilmington -- The DART RideShare Delaware and the Clean Air Council, is launching a new pilot incentive program that offers rewards for commuters who switch to a more environmentally friendly form of transportation, including walking, biking, public transit or carpooling from driving alone. This program, named RideShare Rewards, is being funded through a Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative grant received from the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control. Commuters who log at least 20 qualified clean commute days over a three-month period are eligible to earn a $50 gift card. Greenhouse gas emissions reductions will be calculated through RideShare Delaware's online commute tracking system.

Getting people to try transit or share the ride to work is a big challenge, said Sean Saffle, project manager for RideShare Delaware. This is a great opportunity to save money, earn a reward, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in our State. The RideShare Rewards program is for commuters who currently drive alone to work. It is an incentive program designed to motivate solo drivers to try a clean commute alternative like carpooling, vanpooling, riding transit, bicycling or walking. Commuters participating will earn a $50 Gift Card for logging 20 clean commute days with RideShare Delaware over a 90 day period. Please visit http://www.ridesharedelaware.org, fill out the RideShare Rewards application, and start saving money today!

This is a pilot program, and program details are subject to change at any time, but if changes occur participants will be notified.
