Why it Pays to Buy a Home in Delaware Near DART Public Transit

Riding transit saves hundreds of dollars in commuting costs but more importantly, you'll also save big with a Smart Commute Mortgage!

Yes, you can now save on your home mortgage if you reside in Delaware near public transit and use it to commute. Thanks to a partnership between DART First State, Fannie Mae, Wilmington Trust, and Citizens Bank, you can apply for a "Smart Commute" mortgage, and not only save on commuting costs, but also on your mortgage.

The Smart Commute mortgage is available to eligible homebuyers who purchase a home in Delaware within three-quarters of a mile of a DART rail station or bus stop. Qualified borrowers may be able to have their qualifying income expanded up to $250 a month ($3,000 a year) in two wage-earner household, or $200 a month ($2,400 a year) for single wage-earner households. Wilmington Trust and Citizens Bank will consider this expanded amount as additional qualifying income when applying for a mortgage.
