DART First State's Annual "Stuff-the-Bus" Charity Food Drive
Helps Needy Delawareans Each November, and during the week before the Thanksgiving Day national holiday, DART First State conducts its annual "Stuff-the-Bus" Thanksgiving Food Drive throughout the State. The public is encouraged and invited to help "Stuff-the-Bus" by donating nonperishable food items such as canned goods, cereal, and household products such as paper products, laundry detergents, and boxed side dishes. The Food Bank of Delaware, located in Newark, distributes the donated food via its more than 250 centers and groups that serve needy residents statewide. In 2006, the DART First State "Stuff-the-Bus" food drive raised over 10.2 tons of food for needy Delawareans thanks to the generosity of the public, including several elementary schools, and many businesses and employers.
