Summary of DART Fare Update Proposal for February 2021

A fare update is planned for DART bus services as part of the February 2021 Service Change to include the following proposals:

  • Introduction of a Student Fare
  • Introduction of a 20-Ride Ticket
  • Price reductions for Daily, 7 and 30-Day Passes
  • Discontinuation of DARTCards
  • Zone reduction from 7 to 3 statewide
  • Route-specific fares
  • Discontinued acceptance of SEPTA Key Card

Student Fare

  • Cash payment onboard bus – $1.00 (1 Zone); $2.00 (2 Zone)
  • Student defined as a passenger above 46" in height and enrolled in primary, secondary, private, parochial, charter, trade, college, community college, university or home-schooled full time or part time (children 46” in height or under ride free with a fare-paying adult). Student ID may be required.

20-Ride Ticket

  • $26.00 (1 Zone); $52.00 (2 Zone)
  • Available on DART Pass mobile app only

Price Reduction for Passes

  • Daily Pass – from $4.20 to $4.00 (1 Zone); from $8.40 to $8.00 (2 Zone); from $12.60 to $10.00 (3 Zone – Route 305 only)*
  • 7-Day Pass – from $18.00 (1 Zone)/$24.00 (2 Zone) to $16.00 (per County)*
  • 30-Day Pass – from $65 (1 Zone)/$96 (2 Zone) to $60 (per County)*

* based on new fare zones

Discontinuation of DARTCards

  • Card sales would end prior to the fare change
  • Cards would be accepted through March 2022

Zone Reduction

  • Three Zones defined by County boundary
  • Majority of routes would travel within one zone
  • Longer distance routes would travel in two zones

Route-Specific Fares

  • Connectors from SEPTA Train to employment centers
  • Routes 48, 61 and 62
  • Fare - $1.00

  • Original shuttle route has expanded to full route (Peoples Plaza to Wilton)

Discontinued acceptance of SEPTA Key Card

  • DART fare box does not have ability to read SEPTA Key Card to confirm TrailPass
  • Fraudulent use
